The News Reporting course covers different aspects of the news and how to report it. It consists of two parts:

1. What is News?
The course takes you through a brief introduction to Journalism, the definition of news, and subjectivity in different newspapers. The general parameters of judging the newsworthiness of an item, as well as some practical aspects of the control of news in newspapers are also covered.

2. Writing News
The student is taken through different ways of collecting news and presenting it. This is followed by exercises to help the students identify news wherever it may be found. A final section briefly discusses the ethics of news presentation.

A Certificate will be awarded after all the graded exercises are completed and evaluated.
