FAQs

1.  What accreditation will the Distance Learning programme give me ? Is it equivalent to a diploma ?

On completing certain modules, you will receive a certificate, not a diploma. (A Diploma is given for a longer period of study, and would normally comprise at least 3 or 4 modules.)

XIC, and TeleXIC which it incorporates, is an autonomous body and its diplomas and certificates have a premium value in the media industry. This is why XIC students are much sought after by professional bodies in media production and corporate communication.

2. What is the duration of the course ?

The Distance Learning Programme for each subject ( module) is planned to last 6 – 8 months. On registration and payment of the required fees, the student is given his/her login name and password. On expiry of the allotted time, both login name and password will lapse; if the course has not been completed, re-registration with payment of the full fee will be required. On completion of the course, a certificate (in hard copy) is sent to all successful candidates (within 30 days). The duration for Self Enhancement Courses is one month and, effective 2008, a Certificate of Completion is awarded on successful performance in the Test.

The Distance Education Programme does not have a fixed registration date. This means that the student can apply for the course at any time, and he/she can begin the course at any time. From the day the student registers, he/she is given access for a stipulated period within which the course is to be completed.

3. How much does this course cost ?

The fees vary depending on the course.

3a. If I am a student living out of India is the fee the same ?

The fee for students living in South Asia i.e. India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka is Rs.5,000/- including registration and course material. Demand draft to be drawn in favour of Telexic at Mumbai.

The fee for students living in other countries is Rs.15,000/- all inclusive. Demand draft to be drawn in favour of TeleXIC at Mumbai. For Self Enhancement courses the fee is Rs.1000/- for those in India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The corresponding fee for students living in other countries is Rs.1,500/-.

4. How will I get a job after doing this course ?

X I C has a placement service Xpress. Students, and ex-students of the regular Diploma courses are permitted to register themselves. We do not offer placement services to Distance Education Students as of now.

5. Is this course recognised ?

Over the last three decades, the Xavier Institute of Communications has built up a solid reputation for the quality of its professional courses, and the flexibility and creativity of its learning systems. The diplomas and certificates it awards do not have any academic recognition from the university, nor from any professional association but XIC's students are much sought after by newspapers, advertising agencies, public relations houses and others in corporate communication.
