Distance education allows the student to access course material, exercises and examinations without the need of physically attending the training institution. Distance education has arisen because of large numbers in today's society who wish to improve themselves, both professionally and for personal interest. Present-day institutions cannot cope with the numbers of students, nor with their varied background and experience. This is why distance education is usually aimed at an adult learner.

At other times correspondence courses, "open universities" (through television), audio cassettes, radio programmes, etc. used the media for distance learning. Today the internet provides a new and effective electronic outreach to all those precluded from studying  at a fixed time or place.

Over the last three decades, the Xavier Institute of Communications has built up a solid reputation for the quality of its professional courses, and the flexibility and creativity of its learning systems. XIC's students are much sought after by newspapers, advertising agencies, public relations houses and others in corporate communication.

"At XIC, we believe in making media skills and communications studies available to all who wish to learn. Telexic is our distance education program, available and affordable to the adult learner everywhere."
